Eliza Pahl, who lives in Whitehorse, is one of the Spring 2022 graduates from the Recreation North Training Program. You can read below to learn about Eliza and her work for recreation in the North.

“My name is Eliza, I live and work within the traditional territories of the Kwanlin Dun First Nation and the Ta’an Kwach’an Council in Whitehorse Yukon.
I’ve been working in the fitness industry for almost 20 years and in recreation for 15 years! I am currently working as the Program Supervisor at the Canada Games Centre.
Over the last year I’ve enjoyed participating in the Recreation North Training Program and earning my Certificate in Northern Recreation Leadership. This training was very accessible, and I appreciated that I could easily fit the learning into my day.
The learning events that form the training fostered connectivity with other leaders throughout the three territories through weekly conference calls.
We all share a passion for recreation. I valued hearing what everyone was up to and how they would “think outside of the box” and get creative with their programming and events. Having the ability to network with the other participants, I gained new contacts to partner with or bounce ideas off of.
The biggest take away for me is having a fresh perspective to continue to provide programs and services to our community. Thanks for all that you do to make this program successful!”
