Fantastic Foundational Knowledge

Megan Lennie recently completed the Recreation North Training Program. Megan lives in Akalvik, NT and earned a Certificate in Northern Recreation Leadership in May 2021. Megan shared a bit about her experience.

My name is Megan Lennie, born and raised in Inuvik, currently calling Aklavik, NT home. I am the Land program Coordinator for the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation within the Project Jewel Initiative and the Land Based Coordinator for Western Arctic Youth Collective. My passion for recreation and tourism started at a young age, with my love for the Western Arctic and the history it holds.  I began my post-secondary education at Thompson Rivers University within their Adventure Studies Program, continuing on to pursue recreation.

My experience with the Recreation North training program was beneficial and it fit perfectly within my schedule; I was able to work full time but keep my education thriving. The program allows you to connect and learn from many other recreation leaders across the North, this is an amazing asset of the program.

The learning events were filled with fantastic foundational knowledge, I was able to take each learning aspect and use it in many ways, both professionally and personally!

The instructors were great to work with, they were understanding and flexible to everyone’s needs. As it can be difficult at times to joggle many things at once, I am extremely grateful to the trainers Amanda and Caroline for their patience.
