Justine Sarasin-Michel recently completed the Recreation North Training Program. Justine lives in Behchokǫ̀, NT and earned a Certificate in Northern Recreation Leadership in November 2020. Justine shared a bit about her experience.
Hello, my name is Justine Sarasin-Michel, I am from Behchokǫ̀, NT. I am currently the Recreation Coordinator at the Kǫ̀ Gocho Centre (Sportsplex). I have been working on and off with the Recreation Department for the last 10 years. I am also working on my Certificate in Northern Recreation Management.
The online learning events that I took with Recreation North have helped me understand the promotion of recreation, recreation foundations, risk in recreation, legal risks, and proposal writing. Taking this online course has helped me gain the confidence and knowledge that I needed to know. The instructors were very supportive, knowledgeable, and understanding.
I would recommend anyone in the recreation field to take these courses, as it is very informative and will help simplify organizing and planning events. I am happy to be a part of this experience, and to continue learning with Recreation North.
A few words of wisdom… No need to rush, take your time and think outside the box.
